Tiles to restore period features

Tiles to restore period features

From a grand mansion to a modest terrace villa, houses built in the Victorian era have stood the test of time and were certainly built to last. Full of architectural features and period interior designs the walls of these great properties could share many stories of the occupants whom have lived within them

Sadly, as styles, trends and interior fashions have changed, many of the occupants will have removed the “old fashioned” design features these great properties were built with. Some of these houses will simply have had the features hidden – carpet over original hall tiles or parquet floors, hardboard covering the four panels of a door, fireplaces boxed in – and if lucky these will be found.

Today, we love these features again but we also like to blend with modern up-to-date technology and interior designs. Tiles and flooring from the Victorian era are probably one of the most sought-after design features wanted for any restoration project – but they don’t have to have been made in the era.

Tiles for a hallway with a distressed or worn look finish make them seem aged and authentic.

Use stone-effect floor tiles in a kitchen with a modern twist to keep the flooring authentic or go bold with a stunning decorative tile.

For living areas go with wood effect tiles that have the look and feel of real wood flooring but are much cheaper and easier to keep as well as being stiletto heel-friendly! We have a wide range of wood effect tiles on Tiles360 from plank floorboards to parquet squares.

Finally, that true Victorian bathroom with roll-top freestanding bath and claw feet, needs to be sat on Victorian patterned tiles. The Chapel or the Lincoln floor tiles will create the style you will need to complete your Victorian bathroom perfectly.
